Installing the oil ring expander onto the piston.
Installing the top oil ring rail. Each of the two oil ring rails sits on a tiny shoulder on the inside lip of oil ring expander. This cause them to ride hard against the cylinder wall, preventing oil from entering the combustion chamber.
Placing a compression ring into the ring expander. Unlike the oil ring rails, the compression rings are very brittle and must be opened very gently.
Installing the 2nd compression ring onto the piston.
Installing the first compression ring. The oil ring and the 2nd compression ring have already been installed.
